A woman lies alone onstage surrounded by dancing shadows. When these shadows emerge, the woman shares a tender duet with one of them until she is betrayed and abandoned. As the piece progresses, the shadows take control of her movements, eventually consuming her entirely to become one with them at the end. Some of the elements used to evoke the eeriness of this piece include a “windy tunnel” pad, Bartok pizzicato, and string scratches sent through a distortion and reverb pedal on electric guitar.
